Staff Selection Commission's much awaited Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam 2016 Notification, will be announced on 13th Feb, 2016. The Date, is now, Known as the SSC Calendar for 2016, is out.

Today, SSC had surprised everyone by announcing the Notification, before scheduled Date. As per the SSC Exam Calendar 2016, the Notification, was scheduled to be announced on 13th Feb, 2016, but instead Notification was announced on 9th Feb, 2016.

Highlights of SSC CGL 2016 Exam

1) Biggest Change : No Interview for CGL 2016

2) No change in CGL syllabus and Exam Pattern

3) There is No mention that CGL-2016 will be an online Exam.

4) The Post MEA (cipher) has been discontinued

5) For some posts, the upper age limit is set to 30 years

Following the huge rush of candidates to apply for CGL 2016 Exam, the Official website of SSC was non responsive from the last 2-3 Days, that cause inconvenience to candidates willing to apply for the Exam.

Good News for those, who failed to fill the CGL 2016 Online application form is that SSC had extended the Last Dates by one week. It is worth mentioning here that SSC had already revised these Last Date by 10 Days and now there is another extension of 7 Days.

But SSC makes it clear, that this is the Final Extension in Last Date and after that No representations in this regard will be entertained. Here are the Revised Dates for Submitting the online form

SSC CGL Admit Card 2016

Going to appear for SSC CGL 2016 Exam ? Know How to download the CGL 2016 Admit card

SSC Admit cards will be available on Official Regional websites from 2nd week of August (Possibly by 10th August) and can be downloaded using your Registration No. There is No provision to get Admit cards by post, as SSC had discontinued postal admit cards from this year

Expected Date: The most expected Date for Downloading of Admit Cards / Hall Tickets for CGL 2016 is from 2nd week of August (At least, Two weeks before the Exam Date ie 27th August, 2016)

Confirmed : Admit cards for Tier-1 of CGL 2016 Exam can be Downloaded from 10th august, 2016 from the respective Regional Websites. Detailed Process Explained below

SSC CGL 2016 Admit cards

Staff Selection Commission had already announced the Notification for CGL 2016 Exam. The online Registrations were scheduled to close on 24th March, 2016, but SSC had given as extension of One week for submitting the online application, and now the closing date to apply online is 30th March, 2016 . As per the Official SSC Calendar 2016 and CGL Notification, the exam is tentatively scheduled in May 2016 (on 8th and 22nd May). Now postponed to August, 2016  and those have successfully applied for the exam, can appear at their respective venues. 

It is important to note that to appear for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, you must have the Admit Card along with ID Proof. Your admit card has your Roll No. and this gives you a unique Identity with respect to your candidature in the CGL Exam.

It is only with the help of these two documents (Admit card & ID Proof) , that you can make your way into the Examination hall. 

It is worth mentioning here that Process for receiving the Admit cards for CGL 2016 are completely online now. From this year, SSC had discontinued the service of sending the Admit cards by Post. So, the only, way to get the Admit cards for CGL 2016, is to download it online from the respective regional SSC websites. There is No other modes/means of receiving the SSC CGL Admit card.

Before, you proceed to download the Admit card, here are a few important things, you should know.

What is SSC CGL Admit Card ?

SSC Admit card, is a document, that contains your Roll No, Venue, Time & Date of Exam. It is with the help of this admit card, you will be allowed to enter in the Examination hall and write the exam.

The Admit Card will be given only to those, who successfully submit their online applications for SSC CGL Exam 2016. In case you have submitted multiple applications, then only the Last successfully submitted application, will be considered.

It is worth mentioning here that SSC CGL 2016 Admit Card, must be retained till the Final Result is declared, as it contains, your Roll No, that might be needed in the later stages of Examination. 

When the Admit Cards can be downloaded ?

Next thing, you would like to know is from when the admit cards can be downloaded OR the Date for downloading the CGL 2016 admit card.

As per the CGL Notification, the admit cards, will be placed on the regional websites at least 2 weeks prior to exam date. As the CGL 2016 Exam is scheduled on 8th May and 22nd May, 2016, on 27th August, 2016 so we expect that admit cards, will be available from Last week of July 2016.

The Expected date for downloading the admit cards is from 10th August, 2016.

Once the Link for downloading the admit cards, is placed on the Regional websites, we will update this page with the Direct link for downloading the admit cards.

How to Download SSC CGL Admit 2016 ?

SSC CGL Admit card is must have document, if you are willing to appear in the SSC CGL Exam 2016. 

But before you go on to read the process for downloading the SSC CGL Admit Card 2016, you must know the time line for downloading the Admit cards

You can download the SSC CGL Admit card, only after following the below mentioned Time Table.

1) You can download the SSC CGL Admit Card, only after, you didn't receive the Admit card at your correspondence address. The Commission will send the Admit Cards at your respective addresses at least 2 weeks before the exam Date.

In case, you didn't get the Admit Cards, them you have to download the duplicate Admit Cards 

Note:From this year SSC had discontinued its service for sending the Admit cards by post. Now the only way is to to Download the E-Admit Cards.

2) You must note that  Admit cards, will be available online at least  one week, before the exam date. The Admit cards, available through online mode, are in duplicate form only.

As, the CGL Exam is scheduled on 27th August , 2016, therefore, you can download the CGL Admit Cards from the Last week of April, 2016. To Download the Admit Cards, applicants are advised to Read our previous post on How to Download SSC CGL 2016 Admit Cards

3) In, case, you cannot download the admit cards, you should contact the SSC Regional Office and obtain the Admit Card after showing your Application No/ Reference No. , SBI Challan etc.

Process for Downloading the SSC CGL Admit Card 2016

1) Log on to the Regional SSC Official Website

Applicants must be aware of the fact, that Admit Cards can be downloaded from Regional SSC Websites Only. Eg. If, you belong to SSCNWR Region (J&K, Punjab, HP and Harayana), then you have to download the SSCNWR Admit Cards from the SSC North Western Region website

2) On the Homepage, click on the "Download Admit card" Link. Then it will open the Page for Downloading Duplicate Admit Cards

3) Thereafter, select the appropriate link, that contains the Link for Downloading the CGL Admit card 

4) You can Download the admit cards, by entering your Details Like Registration No. and Date of Birth and click on the "Submit" Button.

Forget Registration No. ? In case, you forget your registration No, then kindly check your email, as SSC had sent the registration No. at your email address, at the time of submitting the application form.

5) After that, you can download your Admit Card and appear in the SSC CGL Examination, at the mentioned Date, Time and Venue.

Identity Verification

Applicants can appear  for Examination, at the specified time and venue as mentioned in their Admit Cards. To appear for the Exam, applicants must carry their Identity Proof in Original. The ID Proof can be Aadhar Pan Card, Driving Licence, Voter Card, Aadhar card, School/College ID Card etc.

Applicants must note that, they will not be allowed to enter the Examination hall after 9:30 am (for Morning session) and 1:30 Pm (for Evening session), as SSC had made some strict rules regarding the cut off time for their entry in the examination hall.

Any Updates ?

We will update this page, once the admit cards gets placed or uploaded on the SSC Websites. Once these will be uploaded, we will share the Direct link for downloading the Admit cards.


SSC had postponed the CGL Exam to August, 2016 and the exact dates are yet to be announced. Meanwhile, admit cards can downloaded only after the announcement of exam date, but most likely the admit cards will be available anytime after 2nd week of July

On, 21st July, 2016 SSC had announced an important Notification informing about the recent changes in CGL Tier-1 Exam. This Notification, has also important update on availability of Admit Cards. 

As per the Notification, the Admit Cards for SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam can be downloaded from the regional SSC Website w.e.f 10th August, 2016.

In case, applicants are issued more than One Admit Cards, they should bring in into the Notice of the Regional SSC Office. Applicants, who appear for Admit cards, in more than One shift will be debarred from the SSC Exam for 3 years.

SSC CGL Syllabus 2016

If you are preparing for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, the you must know the Syllabus for both the Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exams.

On 2nd July, 2016, SSC had announced a Notification, making some Big changes in the CGL 2016 Exam Pattern. Don't worry the Syllabus remains the same, only changes are in the Pattern, Weightage and Duration of Exam. However, CGL Tier-2 remains the same.

Tier-1 Syllabus: In the CGL Tier-1, there will be 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ's) to be asked from 4 Sections viz. English , Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Each section has 25 Questions and Each Question carry 1 mark.

The Total Duration of Tier-1 Exam is 75 Marks.

Moreover the Exam will be computer based (Online Exam)

Here is the Revised and New Exam Pattern for SSC CGL 2016 Exam

Penalty: There will be deduction of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.

Detailed Section wise Syllabus for English Section (Tier-1)

Recently, SSC had replied to an RTI Application, regarding the English syllabus for Tier-1 Examination. The best part in that reply is that, SSC had even given the Topic wise distribution of marks for English syllabus.

During the Recent SSC CGL Pattern change, the English section is reduced to 25 Marks only. 

Here is the Reply of the RTI, as given below. 

Tier-2 Syllabus: Those who Pass the Tier-1 exam, can appear for Tier-2 Exam. The Tier-2 Exam will have Sections viz English and Quantitative Aptitude.

1) Quantitative Aptitude: In the Tier-2 Exam, there will be 100 Questions from the Quant section and each Question carry 2 marks. The Duration of this exam will be 2 hours.

2) English: This section is tier-2 Exam, will have 200 Questions , with each Question carrying 1 Mark. The Duration of this Exam is 2 Hours

Note: In tier-2 Exam, there will penalty of 0.50 marks for Quantitative Aptitude Sections, while there will be penalty for 0.25 marks for English Language and Comprehension.

Descriptive Paper : SSC had introduced a descriptive paper in the CGL 2016 Examination. This paper is only for those, who Qualify the SSC Tier-2 Exam

The Duration of this Paper is 1 hour only and Questions in this paper will be asked from the following sections:

1) Essay Writing
2) Letter Writing
3) Precis Writing etc

Applicants have choice to appear for Tier-1 Exam is Hindi Or English Language. 

Tier-3 stage carries a weighatge of 100 marks.

Section-wise Analysis for CGL Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exams.

As of now, we have discussed the Syllabus for Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam. Now, in this section, lets discuss about the weighatge given to each of the sections in both the exams.

What, we can form the above figure, is that Quant and English section carries the equal and maximum weightage. and Reasoning along with GA carries the minimum weightage

But remember, one thing that All the four Sections are Equally Important and carry similar wightage for Tier-1 Exam.

So Due Preparation should be given to all sections, but more focus should be on English and Quant Section from the Tier-2 Perspective.

SSC CGLTier-1 General Awareness Syllabus 

This is high scoring and Time Saving section in the CGL Tier-1 Exam.

This section has 50 Questions and maximum time limit for this section is 20 mins

This Sections has Questions mainly from the Static GK, Sciences and Crap.

1) Static GK Comprises of Questions from Polity, Indian History& Culture, Geography and Economy.

2) In Science Section, the Questions are asked from Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Section.

3) The Crap Questions, comprises of Questions from Current Affairs, Current GK, Books and Authors, Persons and Place in News, Abbreviations etc.

This is section with most weightage. In this section, 50 Questions will be asked in Tier-1 Exam and 100 Questions from Tier-2 Exam. This Section carries 250 Marks.

SSC CGL 2016 Application form Status : Check Now

SSC CGL 2016 Exam dates have been announced now and the Tier-1 Online Exams are scheduled to start from 27th August, 2016. As SSC CGL 2016 Exam is to be held through Online mode, it is expected that exam might be held at different Dates in Different sessions, as we have for IBPS Exams. 

Meanwhile, SSC had also revised the Scheme of CGL 2016 Exam. While there were No changes in the Tier-2 stage, a few changes have been introduced in the Tier-stage. Today, SSC had released the Application form Status (Accepted / Rejected) for CGL-2016 Exam. Remember, SSC had opened the Online Registration for CGL 2016 from 13th Feb, 2016 to 30th March, 2016. Now, you can check your status online, whether your CGL 2016 Application form is acdepted or Rejected.

It is worth mentioning here that Admit Cards, will be issued to those, whose Form status is shown as "Accepted".  It is expected that SSC CGL Admit Cards may be issued by 10th August, 2016, as Admit cards are issued at least 15 days before the exam date.

SSC CGL 2016 Exam Date for Tier-1

Know the Exact and Actual Dates for SSC CGL Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exams in 2016 

Update: SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam is scheduled to be held on 27th August, 2016. Tier-2 Dates will be announced soon.

If, you have applied for SSC CGL 2016 Exam and waiting o, will be interested to Know, when SSC will conduct the CGL Exam in 2016 OR the Date of SSC CGL 2016.

Its too early to predict the date for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, as exam notification, will not be published before the 1st Quarter of 2016, but still we can make the prediction regarding the  date for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, while taking into account the Dates of CGL 2016 Exam.

It is worth mentioning here that SSC never follows a fixed schedule or Timeline for the release of CGL Notifications. This year SSC is a bit late in announcing the Schedule of its Exams for next years. As per the available Information, SSC had announced its Examination Calendar for 2016 and most importantly, this schedule had information on CGL 2016 Exam. As per the information given in the Calendar, following is the Schedule of CGL 2016 Exam

CGL 2016 Exam Date: 27th August, 2016

CGL 2016 Notification will be published on 13th Feb, 2016

SSC CGL 2016 Last Date : 30th March, 2016

SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam Date

Whenever SSC releases the CGL Notification, there is everything in it ranging from Exam Dates to Syllabus , Paper pattern to Exam Structure etc.

It is expected that SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam will most likely be conducted in the month of June OR July 2016. However, these are only tentative CGL Tier-1 dates and exact dates will be known only when the CGL 2016 Notification.

We expect that SSC will conduct the CGL 2016 Exam, as per its Calendar Information. However, in a case, SSC reschedule the Time Table, Exam Date, Or postpone the Exam, then we will notify the same on this page.

Update: On 2nd July, 2016, SSC had announced the much awaited dates for CGL 2016 Exam, Earlier the Exam was scheduled on 8th and 22nd May, 2016, which was later postponed to August.

Now the CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam, is scheduled to be held on 27th August, 2016
