Today, SSC had surprised everyone by announcing the CGL Notification 2016 before time. The Official Date for announcement of Notification was 13th Feb, 2016, but SSC had uploaded the PDF of Notification on 8th Feb, 2016 by mistake, and after that they have removed the Notification from their website.

While for most of the posts the Qualification is Graduation and Age Limit is 18 to 27 years, but for some of the posts, the Criteria is different and specified otherwise and as such we will discuss the post wise SSC CGL 2016 Eligibility criteria. Applicants willing to appear in the CGL Exam, must read this post, so that you didn’t make any mistake at the time of filling the SSC CGL 2016 online application form.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL 2016  ?

Age Limit: The age Limit for most of the posts is 18 to 27 years, but there are some post, for which upper age limit is relaxable to 32 years. 

Here is the post wise Age criteria for all the posts in CGL-2016

Pay Band-II : Rs 9300 -Rs 34800 


Pay Band-I : Rs 5200 -Rs 20200


Educational Qualification: To apply for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, you must full fill the below mentioned educational conditions.

1) For Assistant Audit Officer: The essential qualification is degree in any discipline from a recognized University . However the desirable qualification for this post is M Com, Chartered Accountant OR Cost and Management Account OR Company Secretary OR Masters in Business Studies OR MBA (finance) OR Master in Economics Business.

2) For Statistical Investigator GR II: Applicant must be a graduate along with 60% in Mathematics, at 12th Level OR Degree in any discipline, with Statistics, as one of the subject in graduation.

3) Compiler: To apply for compiler’s post, applicant must have degree in any discipline, with Economics, Maths and Statistics as one of the subject at degree level

4) For All Other Posts: Graduation in Any Discipline from a recognized Indian University.

      i have also applied for AAO paper so if i skip AAO exam and give the other two english and quant paper . What will happen?

  1. i entered AAO post apply as YES. and EQ is NO…. does this will create any problem??? will they allow me to appear for economics paper..??

      they mentioned it just as degree. so no problem. we have chance to write the economy paper.

      and the doubt is; if we fail in economy paper. do they consider for other jobs with marks of first two papers?

      we should get cl;arity on it….

  3. I have applied for Assistant Audit Officer and For Statistical Investigator GR II also. Is it mandatory to give Paper 3 and Paper 4. What happens if i skip these Papers.Am I eligible for remaining posts? I mean do they consider me for remaining posts?

  4. Sir, if I qualify the both exams, what post will offer to me, I want any group B post which grade pay is 4600 or 4200. But if group C post is offer to me, then what can I do? I means is there any other eligibility difference between these (group B & group C) post?

  9. Sir my problem is that i have given 70% while applying for the CGL exam in thebmonth of february,2016.But the actual fact is that our results were not published at that time.My actual
    Percentage in is 72%.Shall I be eligible for the exam?I have already cleared the tier 1 exam conducted in the month of August.Plz reply Sir its vry urgent..

  11. I am in class 12th right now and 1999 born. I am a science student with biology so can I apply for SSC in 2017?

  12. I am completing my graduation in 2017 shall i apply for the ssc exams 2017 or have to wait one more year..

      SSC CGL takes almost 1year to complete its all procedural exams ie. June 2017 (T1 exam) and Sept2017 (T2 exam).
      And in no way they will declare the final result in 2017.
      So you have this full year (2017) to get your degree and hence you are eligible.
      So Prepare well for it.
